Library Services

Woodlands County is a member of Yellowhead Regional Library. Fort Assiniboine Public Library is also a member of The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC) and of The Alberta Library (TAL). Our participation in The Alberta Library gives our patrons access to 15 million items in over 230 Alberta libraries.

Residents of Woodlands County (including the Hamlets of Fort Assiniboine, Blue Ridge and Lone Pine) may acquire a library card provided that proper identification is shown.

Your library card is The Alberta Library (TAL) card. This means that as a member of Fort Assiniboine Public Library, you may borrow and return books at any Alberta Library. To obtain a library membership we ask that you be 18 years of age and older. NO CHARGE FOR MEMBERSHIPS. NO FINES FOR OVERDUES. However, we will send you a bill quoting replacements costs of any and all of the titles you have in your possession that are overdue after 6 weeks. Your account will be flagged* until such time as the account has been cleared.

*All TRAC libraries are aware that you are a ‘high risk’ patron (at this particular time). The ‘flag’ will be removed as soon as the books are returned or the charges have been paid ‘in full’.If you lose your library card please contact the library immediately to avoid the unauthorized use of your library card.

If you move or change your phone number please notify us as soon as possible in order to keep you file up to date.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE LIBRARY

Our library has 10 public access computers (PCs). These computers are available for your use at NO CHARGE. We do, however, charge for printing.
At this time, there is no time-limit per person, however, should there come a time when they are all busy at the same time, a time-limit may be implemented.

We thank Industry Canada, Aplen/CAP and the Government of Alberta for their continued support of the Community Access Program (CAP).

WiFi is now available in the library, as well.  Just bring in your laptop and connect to the SuperNet using your library card number.
